The Viking Profession: Pillaging
The modern conception of the word Viking comes from the historical records of church officials. This is due to the common attacks by vikings on Churches and Monasteries for their large abundance of gold. The Vikings used fast powerful ships to rush towards the shores of villages, the speed at which these attacks would occur, combined with the overwhelming force and ferocity of the Vikings in battle was what set them apart from other raiders and pillagers. Fighting was a way of life for the Viking, their religion and culture was based around strength and battles.
